PURPOSE
The Security Analyst I, under the supervision of the Chief Information Security and Privacy Officer, shall follow processes and perform routine information technology (IT) analysis functions. This is an entry level Information Security team position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Functional Area 1: Audit and Monitoring
Percent Effort: 35%
Job Duties
Helps enforce and audit security policies and procedures such as access, breach escalation, use of firewalls, and encryption routines.
Helps monitor data security profiles. Participates in audits and investigations of security exceptions.
Helps develop risk analysis scenarios and response procedures.
Functional Area 2: Document & Cross-Train
Percent Effort: 35%
Job Duties
Helps update, maintain, and document security controls. Provides direct support to the client and internal IT groups for security related issues.
Helps advise technical staff, policy administrators, and clients on the integrity of security procedures, systems, and policies in the design of systems and facilities.
Documents and logs information security, incidents, responses, plans, and methods.
Prepare and document exception requests from various departments.
Cross-train and provide coverage for the Security Analyst II position
Functional Area 3: Training & Tracking
Percent Effort: 30%
Job Duties
Track and report on compliance with faculty, staff, and researcher training, including but not limited to: Information Security Awareness training (ISA), Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act Training (FERPA), and Disability and Accessibility Awareness training (DAA).
Prepare and participate in student, faculty, staff, and researcher ongoing IT Security education.
Represent the IT Department and Information Security team at the TAMU-CC New Employee Orientation (NEO). Assists with new technology deployments and integration testing.
Helps evaluate security products, services, and procedures to enhance productivity and effectiveness.
Working with information security tools in a Microsoft environment
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field
Two (2) years of related experience.
Additional experience may be used as a substitution for the minimum education requirement:
90+ college hours and three (3) years of related experience
Associate’s degree or 60+ college hours, and four (4)
