Job Summary
The OR Implant Specialist evaluates and orders routine special supplies, equipment and instruments

Reports to:

Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:

• Serves as liaison between physicians and clinical staff, providing responsibility for the operations of materials to ensure quality patient care, competent staff, and cost effective and efficient utilization of department resources
• Manage Inventory Control of Implants
• Ordering supplies and implants from assigned areas
• Oversee implant product evaluations; ensure stocked implants are within proper date range and not expired
• Collaborate with vendors on pricing, consignment, etc..
• Data enter patient charges, when applicable
• Provide specialized reports on all aspects of implants and implants consigned
• All other assigned duties related to implants, supplies, stocking, receiving, or Materials Management

Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• +2 years of experience working as a Surgical Technician and/or in a clinical setting

Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
N/A

Skills and Abilities
• CPT Coding helpful
• Knowledge of materials management related to inventory control, counts, purchasing, and delivery helpful
• Understanding of OR Materials Management as related to implantable devices.
• Computer skills required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (including, but not limited to, Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.), Cerner, IDX, and other applicable hospital-based programs as they pertain to the required job duties.
• Problem solving skills

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position requires close interaction with OR Materials Management, OR Service Coordinators, OR Staff and Physicians, UMC Purchasing, UMC Revenue Integrity, and third-party vendors.

Physical Capabilities
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. There are extended periods of time standing and/or frequent walking.

Environmental/Working Conditions
This position is subject to indoor temperature changes. Work done intraoperative is performed in a high- risk area for exposure to blood borne pathogens.
