What You Will Do:

Pratt & Whitney AutoAir (Lansing, MI.) designs, manufactures, and repairs composite components, engine test equipment, and nacelles for the aerospace industry.  We’re looking for a professional Quality Manager to join our team. The primary focus of this role is to ensure QMS adherence and overall product quality, while supporting daily operations of the assigned manufacturing cell staff members, which typically is made up of operators and inspectors. This is a phenomenal opportunity to enter the Aerospace industry and hone your skills while developing skills in a thriving industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of quality engineers to deliver results while ensuring, safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

  • Lead and mentor the quality organization to foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

  • Partner with safety, operations, engineering, materials, and maintenance teams to meet deliverables and solve problems.

  • Evaluate and approve technical data and work instructions in support of engineering and operations.

  • Lead the Material Review Board Crib members and Clinic members to ensure inventories and projects are managed. This may include conducting investigations, providing analysis, and developing recommendations for corrective actions for nonconformities.

  • Develop proactive quality initiative strategies and drive their implementation.

  • Perform Escape Management procedures, root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions for internally produced products & processes.

  • Promote the Product Safety and Quality culture in the business, through compliance to the QMS and adherence to Quality Cardinal Rules.

  • Manage the internal audit and corrective action programs. Champion best practices to reduce quality notifications, Cost of Poor Quality, Accruals, Time on Part, and Customer returns.

  • Represent our business with external customers and suppliers. Build relationships and actively resolve concerns.

Qualification You Must Have:

  • Advanced degree and 7+ years of experience in Quality, Engineering or Operations experience in Aviation, Aerospace, Space, Defense or similar regulated industry; OR Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience; OR Associate’s degree / Technical School Diploma and 12+ years of relevant industry experience.  OR High School diploma or Military / Technical Training (ex: A&P Certificate) and 14+ years of relevant industry experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, or MRO operations

  • 5+ years of leadership experience ideally managing technical teams

  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (i.e., AS9100/AS9110 or ISO 9001) and audit process

Qualifications We Prefer

  • University degree ideally in Engineering. Mechanical or Quality Engineering preferred

  • ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA, CMQ/OE) or equivalent.

  • FAA Airframes & Powerplant License

  • Operations leadership and personnel management experience ideally within a collective bargaining unit / union workforce

  • Working knowledge of Pratt & Whitney shop practices & processes, quality standards, and inspections methods & tools

  • Strong working knowledge of FAA Part 145, EASA, A
