QA Software Engineer

<h2>Overview</h2> <p></p> <p> </p> <p>We are seeking our new <strong>QA Software Engineer </strong>to join the Axway team!</p> <p> </p> <h2>Responsibilities</h2> <p>Reporting to the Team Lead, you will serve as the <strong>Quality and Testing SME</strong> for a high-performance platform engineering team focused on API management and integration technologies.</p> <h2>Quality Leadership &amp; Strategy</h2> <ul> <li>Define and drive the <strong>test strategy</strong> aligned with platform architecture and integration patterns.</li> <li>Champion <strong>quality engineering best practices</strong>, ensuring efficient and effective testing across all layers of the stack.</li> <li>Mentor and coach engineers on testing techniques, automation, and performance validation.</li> <li>Establish and track <strong>quality KPIs and metrics</strong> to continuously improve test coverage, reliability, and release confidence.</li> <li>Ensure adherence to quality processes and standards, and proactively evolve them based on team and customer feedback.</li> </ul> <h2>Cross-Functional Collaboration</h2> <ul> <li>Partner with internal teams (engineering, DevOps, product) and external stakeholders (support, professional services, customer success) to elevate product quality and customer experience.</li> <li>Act as a liaison between engineering and customer-facing teams to translate feedback into actionable quality improvements.</li> </ul> <h2>Test Design &amp; Automation</h2> <ul> <li>Lead the design and implementation of <strong>automated and manual tests</strong> across API layers, data stores, and service mesh components (e.g., Envoy).</li> <li>Apply the <strong>test automation pyramid</strong> effectively, ensuring robust unit, integration, and end-to-end test coverage.</li> <li>Build and maintain scalable test frameworks and CI/CD integrations tailored to a microservices and Kubernetes-based architecture.</li> </ul> <h2>Risk &amp; Performance Management</h2> <ul> <li>Identify and escalate <strong>quality risks</strong>, gaps, and inefficiencies in the testing lifecycle.</li> <li>Drive <strong>performance testing</strong> initiatives for APIs, data pipelines, and distributed services using tools like JMeter, Gatling, or k6.</li> <li>Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize and implement quality improvement initiatives in a timely and measurable way.</li> </ul> <h2>Platform Expertise</h2> <ul> <li>Develop deep technical knowledge of the platform’s components including Java services, Envoy proxies, Valkey caching, MongoDB/Postgres databases, and Kubernetes orchestration.</li> <li>Influence engineering teams to raise the bar on <strong>quality deliverables</strong>, ensuring resilient and scalable integrations.</li> </ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li><strong>5+ years of experience</strong> in software quality engineering or SDET roles, with a strong focus on backend systems, APIs, and distributed platforms.</li> <li>Proven expertise in <strong>designing and implementing automated test frameworks</strong> for microservices and API-driven architectures.</li> <li>Strong programming skills in <strong>Java</strong> (or equivalent languages like Python or Go) for test automation and tooling.</li> <li>Deep understanding of <strong>API testing</strong> (REST, gRPC), including contract testing, schema validation, and mocking strategies.</li> <li>Familiarity with <strong>Valkey (or Redis)</strong>, <strong>MongoDB</strong>, and <strong>PostgreSQL</strong>, including how to validate data consistency and performance across these systems.</li> <li>Hands-on experience with <strong>Kubernetes</strong>, including testing in containerized and orchestrated environments.</li> <li>Strong knowledge of the <strong>test automation pyramid</strong> and experience applying it effectively in large-scale systems.</li> <li>Experience with <strong>performance and load testing tools</strong> (e.g., JMeter, Gatling, k6) and interpreting results to guide optimization.</li> <li>Excellent analytical and debugging skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality issues.</li> <li>Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and advocate for quality.</li> <li>Experience working in <strong>Agile/Scrum</strong> environments and contributing to continuous improvement in testing practices.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Company Overview</strong> </p> <p>At Axway, we’re more than a company—we’re a pioneer.
