STANDARD WORK HOURS: Up to 20 hours per week

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-Time 

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt 

LOCATION: On-Site – Main Campus

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Housekeeping Assistant helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, faculty, and visitors. This entry-level position is designed for students who want to gain work experience while contributing to the university community. Training will be provided, and no prior housekeeping experience is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Assist with basic cleaning of assigned areas, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming.
• Sanitize and restock restrooms as directed.
• Gather and dispose of trash and recycling in designated areas.
• Help with preparing facilities for special events (set-up and clean-up).
• Deliver supplies to dorms or other campus buildings as needed.
• Report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor.
• Use cleaning supplies and equipment properly and safely.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Willingness to learn standard cleaning practices.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks independently or as part of a team.
• Dependability and strong attention to detail.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in various environments (residence halls, classrooms, offices).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

• This position does have supervisory responsibility. 

OTHER DUTIES:

• Performs other duties as assigned.  

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• No prior housekeeping experience required; training provided.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain a positive work attitude.
• Good customer service skills.

Licensing and Certifications: NA

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work may require standing, walking, bending, or lifting throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Exposure to cleaning supplies (training provided on safe use).
• Work is indoors, though some tasks may require moving between buildings.
