We build video analytics platforms and hardware products for teams around the world, at every level of the sporting world. Our software provides six million coaches and players the insights they need to win. To help our users, we need an automation focused QA Engineer, who will work with a small cross-functional team (PM, Engineers, Designer) to build a quality product.
We are looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our core video team. In this role, we want someone with a quality mindset that can analyze data, understand user experience, drive testing efforts, and implement test automation. You'll be working along side a squad of Product Managers, Software Engineers, Product Designers, and other Quality Assurance Engineers with the goal to deliver video to our users quickly and reliably.
You Are
- Experienced working at multiple levels of the testing pyramid. You’ve written and maintained tests that span various levels of the testing pyramid and understand when to target which level.
- Experienced testing across various web browsers. You are familiar with the most popular web browsers and have tested the nuances between them. You’re also familiar with mobile web form factors.
- Experienced with automation frameworks. You have experience writing and maintaining automated tests and have worked with a variety of automation frameworks. We use Python for our automated frameworks.
- Committed to reliable automation. You understand best practices for improving test reliability and embrace them. We leverage test isolation concepts such as test doubles and dependency injection and avoid shortcuts like adding sleeps when troubleshooting flaky tests.
- Always looking for ways to improve tests and testing systems. You’re able to identify weaknesses in tests and are committed to staying up to date on modern testing frameworks and ideologies that help us continue to push our quality standards further.
- Able to effectively test manually when needed. You are willing and able to perform manual tests effectively when needed but are always thinking about how to reduce reliance on manual tests. When manually testing visual components, you are able to identify discrepancies from the original designs, usability issues, and functional issues.
You Will
- Extend and maintain automated tests for Hudl’s products. You will be creating new tests for the system and ensuring both new and existing ones pass reliably. You will challenge yourself to extend automation beyond happy path testing. You will be expanding the existing automation frameworks and ensuring frameworks are extensible and reliable.
- Manage and enhance automated and manual tests for Hudl’s products. You work alongside developers to ensure changes they make to the products meet the acceptance criteria defined for the change and do not introduce regressions. In addition to leveraging automation when possible, you will also need to perform some manual testing. You will provide structure to automated testing by defining and documenting a comprehensive test plan. You’ll execute on the plan and conduct exploratory testing as needed.
- Be an involved team member. You will actively participate in scrum ceremonies and help define acceptance criteria for tickets in the team’s backlog.
We Will
- Give you a chance to lead. Hudl’s video system is a key part of back-end development at Hudl. In this role, we will give you every chance to become a leader in the QA space and help set new standards for testing at Hudl.
- Treat you like an adult. It’s all about a healthy work-life balance. We’ll trust you to get work done and take a break when you need it. (Hello, unlimited vacation policy!)
- Give you what you need. We’ll supply the environment and tools for success, allowing you to focus on professional growth and career development.
