The Role
Galileo removes the complexities of payments to enable companies to focus on providing their customers with seamless card issuing and peerless digital banking experiences. On our team, you will be in the middle of it all – implementing new functionality, squashing bugs, testing and deploying, monitoring and supporting mission critical systems, working on hyper scale modern payment technology, and continually growing as an engineer. You’ll face and solve a wide range of challenges: technical, product domain, and operational, shaping your personal growth and career along the way.

As a Galileo Engineering Intern, you won’t be sitting on the sidelines during your internship. You’ll be working as a full-time member of our Engineering team, focused every day on building products and features that fulfill our mission to help our members get their money right.
You will be embedded on an agile development team, partnered with Product Management, Product Design, User Experience Research, and Data Science to build and ship code that is released to the public on a regular basis.
What You'll Do
- Write, test, and deploy efficient, scalable code to production that impacts millions of Galileo clients
- Design, develop, code, and test software systems, improvements, products and user-facing experiences
- Work with multiple programming languages and frameworks: Python, Javascript, Snowflake, Angular, and SQL to name a few
- Directly contribute to standard methodologies, architecture, and implementation
- Translate user stories into technical solutions
- Participate in design and code reviews
- Contribute to Galileo’s library of automated tests and overall testing infrastructure
- Work alongside software architects and senior developers doing state-of-the-art development work (full-stack, back-end)
- Learn about new technologies, tools and processes that will build your skill set and help shape your career
- Present your summer project/work to SoFi and Galileo’s senior leadership team
What You'll Need
- Will be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program during the 2023-2024 school year
- Have completed at least their sophomore year toward their undergraduate degree, or higher, by Summer 2023
- Have no more than 12 months of professional, full-time work experience
- Must attend a university in the United States
- Able to obtain work authorization in the US in 2023
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and how to apply them in a coding environment
- Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and systems architecture
- Ability to quickly learn new languages and adopt new technologies, methods and processes in a fast-paced work environment
- Intellectual curiosity and an affinity for solving problems
