We are seeking a Journey Level Power Generation Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining generators and auxiliary components to ensure seamless power supply across various industries. This position requires strong technical expertise, professionalism, and the ability to work independently while delivering excellent customer service.

About the Role:

As a Journey-Level Power Generation Technician, you will:

  • Perform field inspections of generators and conduct diagnostic tests to assess their condition.
  • Identify and repair issues in electrical and mechanical systems, including AC and DC components.
  • Conduct load bank testing and calculate KW capacity to verify performance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair control systems, including engine controllers, automatic voltage regulators (AVR), battery chargers, block heaters, automatic transfer switches (ATS), and switchgear.
  • Service and repair diesel and gaseous engines, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Install and modify power generation equipment to meet specific application requirements.
  • Test and repair charging systems, including battery load testing.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation of repairs.
  • Ensure a safe and organized work environment while following industry and company safety standards.

What You Bring:

  • Education & Experience: 
    • Extensive experience in power generation service and repair.
    • Knowledge of diesel and gaseous engines, generators, and control systems.
    • Understanding of AC 110-690 VAC systems, DC electrical fundamentals, and work practices.
    • Familiarity with mechanical and electronic governors.
    • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, motors, and transformers.
    • Proficiency with vendor diagnostic software for troubleshooting.
  • Technical & Interpersonal Skills: 
    • Ability to work safely around electrical components and follow strict safety guidelines.
    • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills for both mechanical and electrical systems.
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills to interact with clients, electricians, contractors, and site managers.
    • Basic computer skills, including MS Office, email, and diagnostic software tools.
    • Self-motivated and able to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Physical & Travel Requirements: 
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (or up to 100 lbs. with assistance).
    • Frequent travel within the Hawaiian Islands (up to 75%).
    • Ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive Pay: $35.00 - $48.00 per hour (based on experience).
  • Sign on Bonus of up to $10,000, depending on experience. ($5K will be at time of hire, $5K at 6 mo.)
