Job Title: Backcountry Guided Experience Manager
Status: Full-Time – Seasonal, Non - Exempt Hourly
Reporting To: Director of Sports and Recreation
Job Description:
Powder Mountain is seeking a guest oriented, hospitality driven, self-motivated Backcountry Terrain Manager to manage our team of professional backcountry guides. Powder Mountain is a unique resort with public and private terrain, you will be expected to guide to guests of both resorts.
This role will be responsible to the development and implementation of the Backcountry Guided Terrain Program. This will include developing the staff, the process/scheduling flow, overall standard operating procedures, and collaboration with the marketing department for program upsell.
In addition, you will be a part of the broader Sport and Recreation Leadership Team that is shaping the direction of the Backcountry Guide Program as well as the broader Sports & Recreations teams.
Backcountry Guided Experience Manager Responsibilities:
· Develop Process Flow of programming (where to go, when, why, how guides move around, etc.)
· Implement backcountry program.
· Create, implement and exemplify Guide Safety Training.
· Ensure an elevated guest experience.
· Communicate and collaborate with Ski Patrol and Mtn Operations on terrain usage and tour time frames.
· Arrange appropriate Guide for guests, terrain, and ability.
· Ensure Guides are following procedures outlined in Guide Safety Training.
· Attend Powder Mountain snow safety meetings, relay information to staff.
· Define terrain that can be accessed based on snow safety information.
· Aid in the interviewing and onboarding of Guides.
· Train and schedule Guides.
· Select and offer career development for advantageous Guides.
· Work with supporting departments to ensure quality of experience.
· Ensure accurate labor reporting.
· Evaluate quality of products, recommend improvements when needed.
Qualifications:
· Ability to ski and/or snowboard safely in backcountry, unpatrolled terrain.
· Avalanche Certification that is accepted by the AAA - Pro Level 2 – preferred.
· Avalanche Certification that is accepted by the AAA - Pro Level 1 – required.
· Current OEC or EMT-B and Professional Leve
