As a Respiratory Care Clinical Educator at Lurie Children's, you will be at the heart of our pediatric care team, making a difference everyday by providing top-quality and compassionate respiratory care services for the safe and effective care of neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patients.

The Respiratory Care Clinical Educator is a Licensed Respiratory Therapist who influences professional role competence and professional growth of learners in a variety of settings.  The Clinical Educator supports lifelong learners in an inter-professional environment that facilitates continuous development and learning for the healthcare team.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develops knowledge and competency in pediatric respiratory care and professional development practices.

  • Evaluates personal practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, and relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.

  • Implements strategies for seamless transitions to practice and between practice settings.

  • Manages and oversees both formal and informal education processes and programs

  • Assesses clinical skills of staff and provides learning opportunities to advance clinical competencies and decision-making skills of staff and documents competencies.

  • Uses the best available evidence to guide practice decisions.

  • Facilitates professional role development.

  • Actively works to assist in transformation processes at the unit/area level, utilizing project management and improvement processes.

  • Other job functions as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum three years of clinical experience in specialty area, strongly preferred.

  • Graduate of a Center on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited bachelors, or master’s program in respiratory care.

  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree required.

  • Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of Illinois, active and in good standing.

  • Active CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) Credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC.) New employees will have three months upon hire to obtain RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) credential.  

  • Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification required from the American Heart Association, within 12 months of hire.

  • CPR instructor, within 6 months of hire.      

  • Resuscitation requirements as appropriate to specialty area.

$76,960.00-$125,840.00 Salary
