General Job Description
Dogwood Industries is seeking a procurement professional to join our team in Everett, WA. The successful candidate will have purchasing experience in electrical and mechanical equipment along with  a construction background or related field.  Candidate must be comfortable working under tight deadlines and handling multiple and diverse project requirements. The Procurement Specialist regularly reviews drawings and specifications and organizes information for RFQs and issues detailed, accurate Purchase Orders. Candidate will demonstrate high level of organizational skills and attention to detail. Technical knowledge of materials and equipment is required. This position requires fluency in English with excellent written and oral skills to facilitate communication with the design team, vendors and production personnel. 


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Development of procurement schedules to coincide with production schedule
  • Negotiation with suppliers to achieve acceptable pricing and terms
  • Research and development of products and suppliers 
  • Become the SME for products requiring technical understanding 
  • Understand the Dogwood product offering and the interface of materials sourced
  • Procurement of materials and equipment as directed
  • Issuance of purchase orders 
  • Expediting of materials
  • Interfacing and communicating with project team 
  • Reporting expected cost to complete, budget analysis and cost comparisons
  • Resolving discrepancies in supply chain performance
  • Interfacing with accounting to ensure timely and correct payment of vendors
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Skills & Qualifications

  • Able to organize information from multiple inputs
  • Detail-oriented and able to extract critical information from specifications
  • Ability to read and understand technical information to ensure accuracy of purchase orders
  • Professional approach to working with vendors and suppliers to achieve favorable pricing and deliveries
  • Fluent in the use of Office, SharePoint, and Adobe applications; able to adapt to purchasing software specific to company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction or manufacturing field, or over a year of experience in buyer or procurement role
  • Previous successful projects or operations as a buyer in a related procurement field
  • Experience negotiating with vendors

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

This position requires light physical activity in an office environment. There are stairs in the office which the employee will regularly need to utilize for access. The employee will travel occasionally by car to the corporate office and Sedro-Woolley factory, as needed. To perform the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly seated at a desk for administrative work and walks through the workplace to meet with employees, utilizes the telephone frequently, participates in meetings with colleagues and engages with employees in a factory setting where they will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors. 


Compensation

$80,000 - $85,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
