​​Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.​ 

​​The Azure PostgreSQL database team is hiring Principal Software Engineering manager to be part of PostgreSQL Engine team. We are looking for a hands-on manager with experience in database internals and building distributed database systems at cloud scale. PostgreSQL internals knowledge and Linux experience is preferred for this role.

Responsibilities

​​In our team we: 

• Architect, design and implement code changes in core PostgreSQL engine.  
• Build and productize V0.01 projects in connection with PostgreSQL engine.  
• Build frameworks, analyze and fix performance bottlenecks found at cloud scale.  
• Build prototypes to evaluate design and architectural options.    
• Maintain and support operations of live enterprise PostgreSQL service  
  

In this role you will mentor the team, manage their careers, provide architectural insights and review, support them to design and develop enhancements & review code and design around PostgreSQL engine.
