Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer (Remote)

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with IBM Mainframe z/OS systems. This role involves maintaining and supporting our mainframe environment, ensuring system performance, and implementing necessary upgrades and patches. This position is fully remote and a 6 month contract to hire.

Responsibilities:

• System Administration:
• Install, configure, and maintain IBM z/OS operating systems.
• Manage system software, including upgrades and patches.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
• System Support:
• Provide technical support for mainframe systems and applications.
• Collaborate with application developers and other IT teams to resolve system issues.
• Conduct system backups and recovery operations.
• System Security:
• Implement and manage security policies to ensure system integrity.
• Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
• Manage user access and permissions.
• System Optimization:
• Optimize system performance through tuning and capacity planning.
• Analyze system workloads and make recommendations for improvements.
• Implement automation tools and scripts to streamline operations.
• Documentation and Compliance:
• Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and changes.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
