Senior Instrument Repair Trainer

Position Summary
This is an experienced professional and subject matter expert in instrument repair techniques, as well as work-flow processes. The Sr. Instrument Repair Trainer assists in the development of technical content, specific training programs/processes and delivers this instruction to new hire Instrument Repair Technicians and field based Service Operations employees. The Sr. Instrument Repair Trainer will be responsible for the facilitation and final assessment of the Foundation Instrument Training program to new employees. This position provides assistance, guidance, and coaching to the Instrument Repair Trainer as needed. Ensures field Service Operations employees are operating in accordance of the requirements of their respective role. The Sr. Instrument Repair Trainer will be required to spend time in the field to delivering training as well as researching new methods and techniques.
Duties
- Assists in the development and administration of technical training for field service roles.
- Works along withand directs work of Instrument Repair Trainer, focusing on more technical repairs, and advanced training.
- Conducts training of new employees with a focus on the following:
- Standard Operating Procedures in instrument repair
- Instrument name/usage knowledge
- Quality expectations
- Truck and Equipment flow and maintenance process
- Customer Communication
- Updates on new processes and procedures
- Conducts orientation and training program of new employees and executes the Foundation Instrument Training (FIT) program.
- Maintains an education plan based on the prioritization of training needs in the field and for the development of the technicians on an individual basis.
- Maintains real time documentation of education data and adjusts the education plan or communicates with management to ensure progress is maintained and barriers are addressed.

- Communicate with RC and ROM and documents communication and regularly presents training highlights and overviews/refreshers during training engagements .
- Administers the ‘FIT Test’ which is the final assessment of the training program, signaling qualification for Tech II status.
- Maintains a training schedule for education and training for each technician in the territory based on needs and with flexibility to adjust to address demands of the market.
- Ensures resources are available to meet requirements of staff certification.
- Required quarterly field rotation to stay connected with the field through, audits, training, and education.
- Promotes customer service and the mission of STERIS IMS.
- Promotes quality assurance and performance improvement related to employee technical skills.
- Models behavior that is appropriate for affiliation with each facility and STERIS IMS.
Education Degree
High School Diploma or GED in General StudiesRequired Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a field service technical role or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years experience in a formal training role is preferred
- Proven experience a training role mentoring or related experience
- Vocational/Technical education in Mechanical or Electrical field helpful;
- Demonstrated skills proficiency of repair or service including ability to evaluate repair techniques to ensure quality.
- Proven ability to identify Customer needs
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must possess a Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record as applicable.
- Must be able to pass DOT medical exam as applicable.
- Must be at least 21 years old to meet the FMCSA age requirement for commercial interstate driving.
