Description
PURPOSE:
The Facilities Assistant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Safe Children Coalition, Inc facilities in Sarasota, Manatee and Desoto counties. Their role is to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient environment for all employees and visitors. This role involves assisting with maintenance tasks, coordinating with SCC staff, maintaining constant communications, and providing general support to the facilities management team. The Facilities Assistant plays a crucial role in maintaining the overall functionality and appearance of the facility, contributing to a productive and comfortable workplace and community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintaining SCC facilities as needed.
- Clean assigned areas as needed using proper products and chemicals.
- Replenish soap and paper dispensers when this is not covered by an outside vendor or between service dates, as needed.
- Empty trash containers, as needed, during working hours.
- Clean carpeted areas and spills/stains as needed.
- Mop or use floor machine on tiled areas if not covered by an outside vendor.
- Responsible for janitorial duties that are not covered by an outside vendor.
- Helps develop, adjust, implement, and coordinate safety standards and cleanliness standards for all facilities.
- Assists in completing all facility maintenance tasks not requiring an outside contractor/vendor. Major electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work orders will be performed by preferred vendors.
- Drive and operate truck with trailer.
- Conducts all facility/program moves using truck and trailer, must possess ability to move and lift heavy objects (over 100 pounds).
- Assists with maintenance and organization for departments, as assigned.
- Assists in developing, adjusting, implementing and coordinating complete preventive maintenance program for the facilities, equipment and SCC fleet vehicles.
- Support SCC fleet/vehicles with basic maintenance and repairs of tires/ local roadside assistance.
- Responsible for coordinating the purchase of facility supplies, as directed, in accordance with SCC policies and procedures.
- Utilize safe working habits.
- Report any unsafe condition to the supervisor so they can take proper corrective action.
- Take initiative to communicate all requests and needs of employees to management in an effort to meet the needs of SCC staff and facilities.
- Assists in restoring storm and weather-related damage and clean up.
- Assist in lawn and yard maintenance tasks for SCC properties, as needed.
- Other duties assigned by the supervisor.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
