HR Employee Relations Investigator

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a HR Employee Relations Investigator to join our growing team.
The Opportunity:
The HR Employee Relations Specialist will be the primary investigator for personnel matters and support compliance matters across the North America region. This role will require significant experience and expertise in investigations, including workplace investigations that implicate state and/or federal equal employment laws (e.g., harassment, discrimination). A successful candidate will be able to objectively, thoroughly, and empathetically investigate sensitive employee relations concerns. A personal strength of emotional intelligence is needed for this role. Additionally, a successful candidate should be a strong verbal and written communicator, an active listener, and be well organized. You will be the advocate for a positive employee experience and culture by building and implementing policies that are fair and consistent, coaching to address root cause issues, and proactively seeking out employee relations and compliance-related issues through onsite visits, direct coaching and education of our HR team members and business leaders.
This role reports to the Sr. HR Director Global Corporate Functions and resides in the Charlotte headquarters office.
What You Will Do:
- Be considered an Employee Relations compliance subject matter expert across the JELD-WEN North America region.
- Investigate highly sensitive Employee Relations issues, including conducting interviews with involved parties; analyzing data from various internal systems; Providing consultation on remedial action based on investigation findings; identifying conflicts of interests; producing complete investigation documentation, including investigative reports.
- Independently manage assigned casework, bringing investigations to closure rapidly and definitively in compliance with company policies and legal standards.
- Advises and trains leaders in best Employee Relations practices and strategies for managing escalations and employee concerns.
- Analyze aggregate casework data to identify issue trends and opportunities for proactive issue mitigation.
- Contribute to analysis and revision of people programs, policies, and practices to sustain a positive work environment for all Associates.
- Consult and collaborate with business partners, Legal teams, and vendors on complex employee investigations.
- In partnership with Legal, train stakeholders in the areas of Employee Relations, compliance, risk mitigation and other areas as needed based on general compliance requirements and any themes that emerge from escalations, reports or regular onsite visits.
- Collaborate with other functional areas like the Legal department and other stakeholders across the US and some Global business units in the delivery of compliance programs and training to employees.
- Work on critical Employee Relations issues that are crisis-oriented and need to be completed with limited time. Balancing time between projects and crisis-response is a critical component for success in this position.
- Works with HR, business leaders, , in-house counsel and others to support appropriate reporting and actions.
- Interact with employees at all levels of the company, helping to build trust, understanding and transparency and instill confidence in JELD-WEN’s reporting and investigation processes.
- Key point of contact for JELD-WEN’s EthicsPoint reporting and case management in partnership with Legal.
- Develop training, provide consultation and support to sectors/divisions in a variety of Employee Relations and Compliance areas to reduce future complaints and liability.
- Identify and execute process improvements related to complaint investigations.
- Contribute, promote, and maintain a high level of work ethic and peer support within the HR team.
- Proven project management skills, including building sponsorship, communications, and stakeholder management.
Who You Are:
- Minimum 7+ years combined human resources, labor relations, Legal, or HR investigation experience and compliance work. Preferrable in the manufacturing industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, a legal-related field, or other related field.
- Experience with Case Management Systems including back-end administration and reporting.
- Experience with developing and delivering effective Employee Relations, Compliance presentations, and training material to a variety of audiences in a fast paced, high growth environment.
- Expert understanding of compliance regulations and ability to translate policies to action.
- Solid general understanding of federal and state employment and labor laws.
