Staff Associate, Psychopharmacology

Summary: 

Child Mind Institute is seeking a highly skilled and dependable individual to join our team as a Staff Associate for the psychiatry team in our clinical program. The Staff Associate is responsible for supporting one or more psychiatrists, as well as the administrative functioning, development, and maintenance of the clinical program. The Staff Associate serves as a liaison between our doctors and their patients and families.

Reporting to the Senior Staff Associate, this is a non-exempt, full-time position located at our NYC headquarters. We offer competitive salary and benefits.

Responsibilities: 

• Partner with the entire clinical team to provide an outstanding patient experience for families receiving care at Child Mind Institute
• Provide administrative support to one or more psychiatrists
• Approach all new patients for consent to participate in Child Mind Institute’s research initiatives
• Manage clinicians’ calendars, ensuring efficiency of clinician time, and schedule appointments in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
• Facilitate the flow of phone and email communication between clinicians and their patients and families
• Act as the point person for patients and their families, and support them throughout the treatment experience
• Collect initial patient information, perform intakes and coordinate evaluations with the appropriate clinician
• Coordinate all patient prescription transactions, interfacing with pharmacies and insurance companies to ensure prescriptions are filled and patients are reimbursed
• Handle prior authorizations and appeals for medication requests
• Manage prescriptions in-box with psychopharmacology team
• Manage psychiatrist’s caseload to ensure ongoing patient compliance with scheduling 
• Provide psychopharmocolgy support staff team coverage when necessary 
• Keep patient charts updated
• Manage high priorities and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
• Resolve urgent, sensitive, and confidential issues with discretion and integrity, and strictly protect personal health information  
• Assist with training of new support staff
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of relevant work experience preferred 
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
• Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including conflict resolution
• Ability to appropriately handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality
• Professional demeanor and attitude; ability to interface with families as well as senior leadership, clinicians, and staff
• Self-starter and team player able to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Thorough, accurate, and conscientious about assignments
• Positive attitude, energetic, and interested in working in health care
• Prior experience in an administrative role preferred
