Position Specific Description

This is a full time project bound position located at Seabrook Station to support chemistry program oversight.  This role is anticipated to last up to 18 months.

Job Overview

This job is responsible for providing direction and supervision to the Chemistry staff in carrying out the duties and assignments of the Chemistry Department involving the sampling and analyzing for chemical analysis. Employees in this role conduct water treatment activities for the reactor and auxiliary systems to ensure operations are within the prescribed limits. Individuals assist in the development of chemistry programs, procedures, methods and supervise the implementation of these programs.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervises the Chemistry staff to include recruitment, selection, work assignment / areas of responsibility and performance management
  • Provides information and guidance with respect to professional growth and development of employees
  • Applies thorough knowledge of plant technical specifications, applicable federal and state permits, codes, standards and techniques as they relate to the Chemistry requirements at a nuclear power station
  • Manages the site primary, secondary and miscellaneous Chemistry Control Programs, Radiological Effluent Monitoring Program and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Program
  • Oversees the Chemistry Quality Assurance Program
  • Meets or exceeds site-specific ANSI standard requirements
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Experience: 6+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree

Special Requirements

Nuclear Specific Requirements:

  • Candidates with a high school diploma/GED: 6+ years experience in chemistry in the discipline where candidate will be supervising
  • Candidates with an Associate's: 4+ years of experience in chemistry in the discipline where candidate will be supervising
  • Related technical training or academic training: 2+ years
  • Radiochemistry experience: 1+ years
  • Experience with federal regulatory requirements regarding radiological and environmental effluent monitoring
  • Reactor primary and secondary chemistry program requirements knowledge
  • Chemistry laboratory quality control program experience

 

Nuclear Specific Preferences:

  • Associate or Bachelor of Science degree is preferred
