About the role
Title: Sr. Manager Professional Services EngineeringLocation: Rochester, NY; hybrid candidates considered with 50% on-site presence
The objective of the Role: Responsible for leading and developing a team of cloud engineers and architects who deliver AWS solutions to our clients through our Professional Services delivery team. This role combines technical leadership with people management to ensure high-quality service delivery while fostering team growth and professional development. The ideal candidate will bring strong AWS expertise alongside proven management experience to build and maintain high-performing technical teams.
Top candidates will have the following:1. Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing technical teams in a professional services environment2. Deep understanding of AWS services and cloud architecture principles3. Proven track record of developing and mentoring technical professionals4. Excellence in resource allocation and project delivery oversight5. Strong business acumen with ability to balance technical excellence and business objectives6. Demonstrated success in building client relationships and managing technical stakeholder expectations7. Experience with implementing and improving service delivery processes8. Data-driven approach to team performance management and quality metrics9. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Required Experience for the Role:1. Must have minimum of 5 years of experience in professional services, with at least 2 years in a technical team leadership role2. Must have AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification or ability to obtain within 6 months3. Must have experience managing engineers and architects in a billable hours environment4. Must have proven track record of successful project delivery in professional services5. Must have experience with cloud migration, modernization, and implementation projects6. Must have strong understanding of AWS Well-Architected Framework and best practices7. Must have demonstrated ability to develop and implement technical standards and methodologies8. Must have experience with resource planning and capacity management
Preferred Experience for the Role:1. Additional AWS certifications beyond Solutions Architect Professional2. Experience working with an AWS Premier Partner3. Experience in architecting and delivering GenAI solutions within a professional services environment4. Experience with Agile methodologies and timeline-based delivery
Responsibilities, including success measures and KPIs:1. Team Leadership and Development a. Manage and mentor a team of cloud engineers and architects b . Drive professional development and certification achievements c. Conduct regular performance reviews and career planning sessions d. Maintain high team satisfaction and retention rates2. Maintain and Improve Team Utilization a. Monitor and improve team utilization and billability metrics b. Manage team resource allocation and capacity planning c. Drive continuous improvement in delivery processes3. Service Delivery Excellence a. Ensure consistent high-quality delivery across all team projects b. Implement and maintain technical standards and best practices4. Technical Oversight a. Review and approve technical solutions and architectures b. Ensure adherence to AWS Well-Architected Framework principles c. Guide technical decision-making across projects d. Stay current with AWS services and cloud industry trends5. Business Operations a. Support sales team with technical expertise and scoping
