About the role

Job Description:

The employee shall serve as a flight test instrumentation coordinator in support of spaceflight activities for the NASA Scientifically Calibrated In Flight Imagery (SCIFLI) team.  This is a multi-disciplined research group involved with the planning, execution, data processing and reporting of engineering data in the form of imagery.

The employee shall be responsible for overseeing the operation of a NASA ground-based imaging platform and for communications during mission activities with a centralized mission coordinator.  Additional responsibilities include providing logistical support during the deployment and operation of the instrumentation as well as overseeing the proper handling and delivery of the recorded data.  The employee will be required to support in person at imaging instrumentation sites in the general vicinity of the Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral Florida in the days prior to and following spaceflight activities, and specifically during Artemis II launch.  Dress rehearsal activities will also require travel to the imaging instrumentation sites. Attendance of regularly scheduled meetings and mission reviews either remotely or in person will be required.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of coordinating imaging data collection operations in support of spaceflight activities
  • Strong capability to provide leadership over a small group of technical personnel
  • Ability to clearly communicate on multiple channels during periods of mission operations
  • Strong background in spaceflight operations
  • Ability to work as a member of a small, dynamic and highly motivated team

This is a part-time position

Salary range: $120/hr.-$123/hr.
