Program Coordinator, Margolis Center for Health Policy
The Robert J. Margolis, MD, Center for Health Policy at Duke University seeks to address critical health policy challenges and deliver practical, innovative, and evidence-based solutions to improve health and the value of health care. The interdisciplinary nature of Duke-Margolis brings together faculty and learners from across Duke’s schools and departments and fosters extensive relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external. These relationships span foundations, private sector organizations, state and federal governments, and global entities. The Center fosters excellence, leadership, and scholarship at every level.
The Program Coordinator will coordinate and participate in the planning and management of their assigned -facing academic programs. The individual in this role provides program coordination across multiple education programs hosted within the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy. The scope of work of this role may vary per the needs of individual programs.
Responsibilities include supporting program operations, program events, supporting student outreach and engagement efforts, programmatic tracking and assessment, academic course management, and providing administrative support for team meetings in collaboration with Faculty Directors and the Deputy Director of Duke-Margolis. This position is in Durham, N.C. Employees are currently working in a hybrid capacity with a combination of teleworking locally and in-person team collaboration.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Coordination and Support
- Plan, coordinate, and administer the following learner programs, academic programming and events: Health Policy Certificates, HLTHPOL Courses & Schedules, Health Policy and Innovation Bass Connections Program, and Health Policy Core Competencies and Assessment
- In concert with Faculty Directors, help advise students on program requirements, course planning, and internal and external education and training opportunities in health policy.
- In collaboration with Faculty Directors and other Center education program teams, incorporate and reflect health policy core competencies in program curriculum and assessment activities.
- Develop and maintain Smartsheet databases, forms, processes, and data tables with automation.
- Develop and maintain program timelines and deliverable schedules in collaboration with program team personnel and Faculty Directors; support teams to successfully achieve deadlines and complete tasks.
- Serve as a central resource for program participants, including mentors, program personnel, speakers, campus partners, and other interested parties to coordinate various aspects of programs; solicit participation and respond to inquiries about programs according to established policies and procedures. Maintain relationships with faculty members, practicing professionals, and representatives of related programs to coordinate the collection and dissemination of information and ensure consistency in communication.
- Coordinate course-related administrative processes, track progress closely, and follow up to address issues and questions as needed.
- Minimal evenings, weekends, and domestic travel may be required to support programmatic coordination efforts.
- Provide support to other team members and programs/events, as needed.
Outreach and Communications
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage students in assigned programs in consult with Faculty Directors and Director of Communications.
- Curate content for social media and web pages and photos from assigned programs, courses and events in consultation with Faculty Directors and Communications team.
- Draft and edit communications for distributing information internally and externally. Ensure communications are consistent with the Duke-Margolis Style Guide and requirements of individual programs, in consultation with the Faculty Directors and Communications team.
