About the role
Meta is seeking a Research Engineer to join its Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) organization to work on making significant advances in AI. We are seeking talented engineers with experience in vision models and general AI to join the team to investigate how to build contextually aware AI that will be the foundation for a new paradigm in how we interact and use computers. The chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and cross-functional partners and access cutting-edge technology, resources, and research facilities.Research Engineer, Computer Vision - Humans (PhD) Responsibilities

- Build models that can estimate underlying 3D properties from 2D observations.
- Work with articulated object models and various optical models.
- Build and contribute to automated systems and data annotation engines.
- Train and optimize large transformers models.
- Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in the field of Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
- Research experience in computer vision.
- Experience with large scale model training and large scale image or video datasets.
- Experience with Python and PyTorch.
- Experience writing software and executing complex experiments.
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
- Research experience with 3D human mesh modeling, pose estimation, or motion modeling.
- Experience with physics simulation (e.g., Mujoco) or 3D rendering.
- Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as publications at leading workshops, journals or conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ICCV, NeurIPS, SIGGRAPH, or similar.
- Demonstrated research and software engineering experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub).
- Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward.
- Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.
