Job Description

Assists in development of technology focused projects through to the production phase, leveraging technical knowledge in areas of specialty. Provide technology expertise in area of specialty for the site and Region. Develop solutions integrating technical expertise, robust problem-solving methodologies and fostering a culture of innovation improving the performance of Chromalloy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/TASKS:

  • Leverage 3D CAD, additive manufacturing, and tooling design experience to optimize and automate when needed component fixturing and minimize setups.
  • Create Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) programs for multi axis machining using NX/CAM, EasyGrind, and other tools with special emphasis in milling, turning, grinding, and EDM machining.
  • Influence and collaborate globally in complex manufacturing engineering projects with colleagues and vendors across different time-zones and cultures
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications
  • Works with local site resources to assist in technology development projects to full production capability, resulting in transfer and full ownership of final project deliverables by local site.
  • Provide technical planning leadership by setting technology project priorities based upon company goals, anticipated industry trends, and emerging technology.
  • Partner with manufacturing operations ensuring effective implementation of technology projects is accomplished.
  • Provide technical guidance for implementation of new technologies into the operational environment that effectively drive improvements in business metrics.
  • Provide accurate reports/presentations to management pertaining to impact of technology projects.
  • Present outcome of projects/technologies to internal and external customers.
  • Ensure compliance with Company IPM/QPM and ISO-9000 quality requirements.
  • Provide a guiding role, teaching and instructing within the site and region to effect knowledge transfer.
  • Company expert in multi axis CNC programming, workholding fixturing design, and manufacturing.
  • Be a trainer within area of focus to multiple functions and levels across the corporation.
  • Traveling to Chromalloy sites worldwide, as required.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related Engineering Discipline
  • Typically, minimum of 10 years’ experience in Aerospace or Industrial gas turbine engine engineering (design, manufacture, or repair), achieving progressively increasing responsibility and results
  • Previous experience of guiding a technical team of 2-6 with demonstrated organizational competencies and ability to continually improve process maturity
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver projects while interfacing effectively with stakeholders and other functions within a matrix organizational structure.
  • Proven experience of delivery through process design, best practices, and technology projects of at least $500k
  • Demonstrated expertise and proven track record in the design, development, and manufacturing of fixtures in support of airfoil production machining.
  • Hand on machine shop experience preferred
  • Knowledge of turbine operating principles, design concepts and manufacturing practices
  • Knowledge of Industry regulatory protocols requirements and compliance testing preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
