About the role

The Director of Logistics, Perioperative Services leads the strategic and operational management of anesthesia-related supply chain and related perioperative functions across the health system. This individual reports to the System VP of Perioperative and Procedural Services and ensures seamless coordination between perioperative services, anesthesia departments, vendors, pharmacy, and IT to optimize supply availability, cost efficiency, regulatory compliance, and clinical outcomes. The director will also serve as the key liaison for anesthesia equipment, capital projects, and system conversions.

Supply Chain & Inventory Management
•    Direct anesthesia supply chain and related perioperative services operations across perioperative Mount Sinai Health System locations including stocking, distribution, and substitution approvals under the supervision of the System VP of Perioperative and Procedural Services
•    Maintain par levels at distribution centers and ensure compliance with sterile processing department (SPD) protocols and regulatory requirements.
•    Supports the System VP of Perioperative and Procedural Services in sourcing conversion projects, contract negotiations, vendor relationships, and rebate/incentive programs.
•    Oversee inventory tools (e.g., RF Smart, Oracle), troubleshoot system challenges, and lead system conversions under the supervision of the System VP of Perioperative and Procedural Services.
•    Approve and coordinate substitute items in collaboration with clinical and pharmacy leadership.
•    Follows the Perioperative Value Analysis product submission process for new products, one-time use requests, and trials. 
Anesthesia Equipment & Capital Planning
•    Oversee procurement, leasing, and implementation of anesthesia equipment and disposables under the supervision of the System VP of Perioperative and Procedural Services
•    Supports the System VP of Perioperative and Procedural Services in capital budgeting efforts, including vendor quotes, contract reviews, and clinical engineering coordination.
•    Ensure preventive maintenance and software updates in partnership with vendors and real-time location systems.
•    Collaborate with Digital Technology Partners (DTP) and Information Technology teams on equipment integration with EPIC and system infrastructure.


Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
•    Ensure adherence to infection prevention standards, SPD compliance, and DOH/TJC reporting requirements.
•    Maintain logs, documentation, and process improvement initiatives related to clinical quality and patient safety.
•    Participate in rounding and interdepartmental meetings to address compliance gaps and track corrective actions.


Operational Support & Systems Integration
•    This individual will serve as a direct report as needed for anesthesia technologists across the health system in coordination with the Senior Director of Anesthesiology Technology Operations, Perioperative Services, MSHS.
•    Manage anesthesia supply-related changes for cart setups, item conversions (adult/pediatric), and clinical trial support.
•    Oversee KitCheck optimization, Pyxis implementation, and pharmacy substitution protocols.
•    Serve as lead liaison for Anesthesia IT committee and EPIC upgrades related to supply chain workflows.


Team & Stakeholder Engagement
•    Partner with perioperative leaders and staff on process improvement and equipment troubleshooting education.
•    Coordinate communication across departments, including Perioperative Value Analysis/Med Surg Value Analysis, sourcing, and clinical and administrative leadership.
•    Support manager/supervisor anesthesia technician career development and promote a culture of efficiency, accountability, and quality of life.


Financial Oversight
•    Supports the System VP of Perioperative and Procedural Services with budget planning for supplies and equipment, track utilization, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
•    Monitor vendor pricing agreements, rebate opportunities, and total system spend to inform future planning.
 

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, supply chain management, nursing, or related field (Master’s preferred)

• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in perioperative or healthcare supply chain operations, preferably in anesthesia
• Knowledge of EPIC, Oracle, RF Smart, KitCheck, and Pyxis systems
• Strong understanding of vendor relations, capital procurement, and clinical supply workflows
• Experience working in union environments (e.g., 1199) is preferred
• Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills
