Purpose Statement:
Northstar Behavioral Health Network is a team of professionals that specialize in serving those
battling substance use disorders, specifically Opioid Use Disorder and Stimulant Use Disorder.
Also specializing in those needing Intensive Residential Treatment Services.
Requirements
Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential Functions)
- Ability to demonstrate and implement Northstar Behavioral Health core values
- No corrective action in first 90 days of employment
- Demonstrates appropriate attendance with a grace of 1 shift per month
- No more than 2 absences in 90 days. With case by case discretion from the supervisor
- Demonstrate leadership qualities among colleagues
- Required to pick up a minimum of two shifts per week when understaffed
- Work with Technician Supervisor in bi-weekly rotating schedule for call-ins
- Assist with grocery order
- Audit technician duties checklist
- Assist with monthly rounding
- Assist with staff training
- Report consistent standards for all Behavioral Health Technicians
- Attend monthly Supervisor meetings
- Maintain current knowledge of house and client activities.
- Plan work tasks to coincide with programming requirements.
- Set priorities in monitoring clients, making house rounds, documentation of pertinent information and completion of other assignments.
- Available, in a friendly respectful dignified manner, to clients for questions and other assistance.
- Comprehensive understanding of all MN Statutes related to providing services for the population NBHN serves
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of program philosophy and policies and procedures, 245G requirements, house operations, including client rights and confidentiality. - Complete and assisting counselor with intake/admission procedures, orientation of new clients and co-workers.
- Participate in client recreational activities with a positive attitude.
- Serve as a resource for clients through knowledge of services and opportunities in the community.
- Administer client medications and documents accordingly.
- Documentation of client information in the communications log and completion of other forms.
- Clearly understanding the program mission and how his/her work integrates with and advances the goals of the program.
- Use sound decision making skills, exhibiting good judgment and realistic understanding of issues.
- Objectively document client related topics in client files and communication logs.
- Be diplomatic and exhibit sensitivity toward other staff and client’s feelings, needs, values, and opinions.
- Continuously seek out to improve by suggesting solutions to operational struggles, through soliciting input from co-workers including the director.
- Respond constructively to feedback with an open mind.
- Interact, communicate, and collaborate with team members to support the mission of NBH.
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Complete clerical assignments such as faxing, copying programming materials, stocking packets/forms, typing documents in Word and updating Excel spreadsheets.
- Support staff and director in making decisions.
- Launder agency linen and miscellaneous items as needed.
- Keep co-workers informed of all appropriate developments.
- Assist in food preparation, and household cleaning duties as needed.
- Adhere to attendance and absence policies.
- Participate in rotational and/or off - shift schedules, including a holiday rotation schedule, as applicable.
- Able to work additional hours/off - shift as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience (Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge skills and abilities).
- High school diploma or GED.

- Must know and understand the implications of 245G, sections 245A.65, 626.557, and 626.5572, and Chapter 260E.
- Free of chemical use problems for at least two years immediately preceding hire date and sign a statement attesting to that fact.
