Job Description

The Chief Technology Officer sits within the North America Automotive Business Unit.  The successful candidate will direct and execute on the strategic roadmap and technology evolution, for the entire portfolio of Automotive Product solutions, ultimately driving growth across the technology product suite. 

The candidate will possess the business and technical depth along with engineering expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary technical deployments, including legacy migrations to a next generation cloud-based, big data environment. Additionally, the candidate will bring excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills to inspire our teams, rapidly establish trust amongst a diverse set of stakeholders and execute an effective change management process to advance our resources for the future state.

Key responsibilities of the CTO will include:

  • Lead the product engineering organization, to architect, develop, release and support the products of NA Automotive; additionally, the CTO leads Architecture, DevOps, QA, Security and Infrastructure.
  • Develop and drive the implementation of the technical vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Automotive business.
  • Continue to mature the software development lifecycle and agile processes, for the technology organization.
  • Lead the technology transformation (Cloud 9) and migration of products, services, and clients to AWS, while managing the client needs in a hybrid environment through the lifecycle of the transformation.
  • Lead technical programs including engineering teams to get high-quality products and features through an agile, high velocity, fast-paced software project lifecycle, ensuring success metrics are informing future efforts, and quickly fine tuning the program as needed.
  • Partner with peers and other functional leaders such as, product management, sales, marketing to drive results. Act as an advisor of technologies that may improve efficiency and effectiveness across the business.
  • Lead the resource allocation process to prioritize development initiatives in a way that transparently highlights trade-offs, enabling business goal achievement.
  • Direct the execution of enterprise-wide information security plans to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the division's applications, data, and servers.
  • Establish accountability and governance processes to direct and control development efforts to ensure that objectives are achieved, risks are managed appropriately and proactively, and the organization's resources are used responsibly.
  • Identify technology trends and evolving user behavior that may support or impede our technological investments and drive innovation that leverages key technology trends such as GenAI, machine learning, mobile, cloud, big data, responsive design, and modern APIs.
  • Effectively communicates the technology strategy to executives, internal and external partners, and customers.
  • Be a steward for control of the department budgets, including budget planning, tracking and business case development and ROI measurements.
  • Effectively manage capital budgets and headcount as governed by agreed-upon key performance indicators.
  • Ensuring a high performing and highly engaged workforce through leadership practice, performance management; Cultivates the company’s culture and lives its mission and values.
  • Promote and champion DevSecOps principles and practices and the productivity gains that result from continuous testing, integration, and deployment.
  • Contribute to the broader leadership agenda on an ongoing basis as a member of the business unit leadership team. Including building trusted, collaborative relationships with peers.
