About This Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Officer to support a variety of projects in the social sciences research portfolio at our Gas & Energy Transition Research Centre. This includes the implementation of a leading practice framework for community-led monitoring and evaluation of social and environmental data in relation to onshore gas development in the Northern Territory.
The successful candidate will be competent in both qualitative and quantitative social sciences research methodologies. You will require to have knowledge and experience in regional or rural community development (with experience in relation to First Nations peoples highly desirable), stakeholder engagement and communication, discourse and media analysis, participatory research and engagement processes.
You will work closely with the leadership team from the Gas & Energy Transition Research Centre and researchers across UQ who are working on similar projects.
Key responsibilities will include:
Research
Provides scientific and/or technical expertise to maximise research outcomes in social dimensions of onshore gas development, future fuels and energy transition.
Performs complex scientific/research inquiry including qualitative and quantitative social science methods and analysis and generates reports on findings.
Undertakes aspects of implementing a framework for community-led monitoring and evaluation in accordance with scientific discipline/research methodology.
Coordinates participatory research activities including stakeholder engagement, recruitment and communications.
Supports the day-to-day management of research initiatives and projects of the team.
Produces quality research outputs consistent with discipline norms by publishing or exhibiting in high quality outlets.
Contributes to and/or draft elements of research proposals, grant applications, ethics applications and/or other documentation.
Manages compliance with approved research ethics protocols.
Develop a coherent research program and an emerging research profile.
Supervision and Researcher Development
Contribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate).
Demonstrates personal effectiveness in supervision and the management of researcher development.
Effective lead and develop supervisee performance and conduct by providing feedback, coaching, and professional development.
As appropriate, manage research support staff effectively throughout the employee lifecycle in accordance with University policy and procedures.
Working to promptly resolve conflict and grievances when they arise in accordance with University policy and procedures.
