As a member of the IT Management Team, you are responsible for managing, developing, and leading a team of employees. Your role includes leading the specific functional responsibilities of your team, which involves overseeing team performance and deliverables. However, your role as a leader within our organization requires more than the management of resources and day-to-day operations. As a steward of the company, you are charged with the development and execution of your team’s strategic vision and plan and ensuring that your team’s actions align with the larger goals of the company and the IT Division.

We are looking to hire an Assistant Vice President to lead our Joint Operations and Cybersecurity Center (J.O.C.C.), which will be the nexus of all technology observability for Costco worldwide. This role is a unique opportunity to lead the convergence of traditional Network Operations and Security Operations, breaking down silos to create a unified, proactive defensive posture. This leader will oversee observability and operational monitoring of our entire technology stack, including network, cloud, applications, and cybersecurity incident response. This leader will report to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).  

The AVP will be a passionate, forward-thinking, technically-savvy, hands-on leader with exceptional skills in developing and leading a highly technical team. This person will be very active in day-to-day coaching of their team, leading by example, and ensuring that our security architects and teams drive successful outcomes. The ideal candidate must have expert skills in developing observability strategy and leading engineering, monitoring, and incident response teams, as well as building a culture of service and serving as a strategic advisor to the CISO, internal customers, and key stakeholders across Costco’s global technology organization. The candidate must also have the ability to communicate well, motivate and lead cross-functional executive, management, and individual contributor teams independently, and coordinate improving the maturity of a variety of observability and incident response disciplines.
