Pipeline Integrity Engineer

Job Summary:

Western Midstream (WES) is a master limited partnership formed to own, develop, acquire, and operate midstream assets. We are engaged in the business of gathering, compressing, treating, processing, and transporting natural gas; gathering, stabilizing, and transporting condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs), and crude oil; and gathering, transporting, and disposing of produced water for our customers.

We operate or own equity interests in assets in the Rocky Mountains, and Texas, including approximately 16,000 miles of petroleum and natural gas pipelines and over 100 gathering, treating, and processing facilities.

 

WES seeks a qualified individual to work within the Asset Integrity Management group. This position is located at Western Midstream’s Corporate Headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas.

The Pipeline Integrity Engineer reports to the Manager of Integrity Engineering at WES. This individual will be responsible for providing general asset Integrity engineering duties including direction and oversight into the Integrity Management Program as required by federal codes 49 CFR 195 and 192 for pipelines. Candidate will manage compilation of pipeline data for information analysis, perform risk analysis, and capture Preventative & Mitigative measures of pipelines, particularly as it relates to system integrity.

 

Qualifications:

• 3 to 5 years of experience in pipeline integrity
• Knowledge of federal (DOT 49 CFR 192 and 195) and state pipeline regulations with emphasis on integrity management regulations
• Experience in pipeline design, onshore pipeline operations, maintenance, and a detailed understanding of defect evaluation and repair
• Technical knowledge and experience in pipeline inspection tools, pipeline corrosion, pipeline risk management, pipeline information analysis, and software systems
• Must maintain good relationships with regulatory agencies
• Must be able to work effectively with both engineers and operations personnel.
• Knowledge of industry standards such as ASME, API and NACE
• Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment with strong analytical and time management skills
• Strong initiative to work efficiently with accurate results
• Must be self-motivated and able to work both collaboratively and independently
• Oil and Gas Operator experience is preferred

 

Responsibilities:

• Capable of developing and implementing Integrity Management Programs (IMP’s) and associated standards and procedures to support the IMP’s for all pipeline assets
• Provide integrity related engineering design guidance for pipeline projects including material selections, pig trap design, hydrostatic test plan design, and MOP/MAOP calculations
• Pipeline risk management support, including investigating and implementing risk software
• Identify pipeline preventative and mitigative measures, re-assessment interval and re-assessment methods
• Coordinate with HSE, Regulatory, Engineering and Operations on pipeline integrity efforts
• Support tool and contractor selection, analyze data, and provide follow up corrective actions for Pipeline Inline Inspections (ILI)
• Provide scope, schedule, and budget guidance for pipeline integrity work
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Fit for Service (FFS) analysis
• Support regulatory audits (DOT / PHMSA / State) and other initiatives as necessary
• Benchmark performance using Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
• Stay connected with pipeline regulations and evolving trends

Education:

• A bachelor's degree or greater in engineering is required with a preference for Mechanical, metallurgy, or chemical engineering degree

Certifications / Licenses:

• Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred

Travel:

• Up to 25%

 

Work Schedule:

• This position follows a hybrid schedule working in office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and working remote Wednesday and Friday. Monday-Thursday are 9 hours and Fridays are 4 hours.
