Job Title: Senior Mission Assurance Specialist
Your impact
This position is primarily responsible for supporting the Mission Assurance function for the Space Systems Engineering and Operations (SSEO) department, including the development, management and delivery of quality documentation, processes, tools and training that enable SSEO to succeed. In collaboration with all SSEO departments, you will proactively observe, research, and participate in Management discussions to ensure that all documentation, tools and training are shared and meet SSEO’s needs. To provide best practice change management, you will monitor compliance with current operating documents, training and tools in order to best assess SSEO’s effectiveness and process alignment.
What you will do
- Define, implement, train and maintain an effective Mission Assurance program in compliance with Intelsat Concept of Operations (CONOPS).
- Maintain and track metrics (KPI) to evaluate operation efficiency and effectiveness.
- Review practices, procedures, policies and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness and reduce risk in the Space Systems Operations and Engineering department.
- Drive the Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Actions System (FRACAS) analysis and track status of corrective action implementation.
- Assess needs, develop and deliver quality procedures, processes, and training programs to the Satellite Control Center. Review and approve delivery of quality CONOPS compliant procedures and processes to the Satellite Control Center from other departments.
- Define and enforce formal change management practices that ensure compliance with CONOPS, ensuring alignment with other departments and corporate strategy.
- Ensure that training and documentation is consistent and compliant with CONOPS and aligned across departments.
- Coordinate drills across SSEO departments on a routine basis to ensure team readiness to cope with anomalies and refine existing procedure and processes and identify risks and area for improvement.
- Support training for new spacecraft and ground systems, and recurring training for evolving operations processes.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the SSEO departments to drive the development and execution of software to drive automation and efficiencies across the organization
- Realtime support (infrequently including off hours) of and follow-up investigation for major incidents (responsibility is shared among the team)
- Support SSEO management to communicate satellite health, providing the right level of detail and description of risk.
- Manipulate and synthesize various data sources to drive real-time efficiencies and reduce risk.
- Design and regularly review workflows across the organization to secure safe and efficient operations through interdepartmental collaboration.
- Work with SSEO management to coordinate cross-team technical efforts to drive best practices and ensure adherence to the CONOPs.
- Work with subject-matter-experts and SSEO management to review and refine contract documents to ensure adherence to the CONOPs and support the mission of the SSEO department
Your required experience/skills
- A technical bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of recent, relevant experience (or an equivalent amount of education and relevant work experience)
- Experience drafting specifications, evaluating proposals and supporting contract exhibit development
- Experience with process and workflow design, development and assessment
- Familiarity applying Systems Engineering techniques to assess organizational efficacy and identify potential problems
- Ability to investigate operational breakdowns based on relative experience and relevant documentation
- Experience with process, metrics, and data capture/manipulation techniques.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, adept at writing procedures and conveying information to multi-lingual internal and external customers with varying level of technical background
- Strong functional knowledge, experience and desire for documentation control and training delivery.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in teams across diverse multiple disciplines and convey complex technical issues, to both technical and non-technical individuals.
