Nurse Specialist PsychiatryJob Description
Our nurse specialist in psychiatry works collaboratively with psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners (hereinafter referred to as “providers”) to prioritize and manage their time and resources as applicable to the needs of the outpatient clinic setting.
Department: Outpatient Behavioral Health
Hours: Full-time, M-F 8-4:30pm
Required: ADN, IL RN license; BLS & ACLS within 90 days of hire
Pay: Based on experience, starting at $32.10
Responsibilities
Accepts reassignment, at the direction and discretion of management, as applicable to staffing levels and patient volumes, Assists in outpatient clinic by rooming patients, covering the Nurse Desktop and performing other duties typically assigned, Assumes primary oversight for prior authorization documentation and submission, medication sample and buy and bill logs, infection control protocol, lab/specimen protocol and required reporting, At provider’s direction, conducts nurse visits to assist provider with gathering information pertinent to medication refill decisions on occasions when consumers are non-compliant, Coordinates communications with referring physicians, specialists, patients, families and hospital departments/staff to facilitate timeliness and thoroughness of information shared, Documents response to patient history/screening questions for use by providers during assessments and examinations with computer documentation proficiency, Follows Universal Precautions at all times during contact with patients, equipment, instruments and/or specimens, Monitors patients with chronic conditions and ensures appropriate education and expectations with the next level of care to support health maintenance and reduce readmission risks, Relays information between provider(s) and patient(s), which may include but is not limited to, communications with families, pharmacies, nursing homes, consultancy office staff, insurers and facilities. At provider’s instruction, communicates provider advice, instructions, orders and results, as applicable, Reviews patient record for complete documentation and compliance with Core Measures and Quality Metrics and other regulatory and quality requirements, Serves as the primary preceptor/trainer for clinical (nursing) staff, Supports marketing of program with internal and external customers and primary care providers.Requirements
