Commissioning Shift Supervisor

KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is looking for a Commissioning Shift Supervisor to support the multi-billion-dollar Plaquemines project developing a Liquid Natural Gas export facility when fully developed will have an export capacity of up to 20 million metric tonnes per year.  The facility’s location is about 20 miles south of New Orleans.  This project is expected to be a multi-phase project spanning two years.

Aligning with KBR’s commitment to sustainability, the 630-acre site located on the Mississippi River provides deep-water access without the need for dredging, allowing for an expedited environmentally friendly development process.

The Commissioning Shift Supervisor will lead the commissioning and startup for a large capital project consisting of a 5 on 2 Combined cycle power plant within LNG facility.

The facility consists of 1 LM 2500, 5 GE 7ea Gas turbines, 2 Alstom Steam Turbines and associated balance of plant equipment including Air cooled condensers, Boiler feedwater systems etc. in an Islanding configuration suppling electrical power to an LNG Facility.

***Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident***

Responsibilities:

  • Commissioning and start-up all systems of the 5 on 2 combined cycle power plant completing the commissioning work-scope in a logical and controlled sequence and to the project specification
  • Day-to-day commissioning activities, including system flushing, cleaning, and placing systems in-service
  • Direct craft personnel
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and correct quickly and efficiently
  • Provide weekly reports detailing all commissioning activities
  • Lead the development of written procedures for testing, cleaning and initial startup of major plant equipment and systems
  • Direct client/vendor/subcontractor coordination for the startup of completed systems
  • Manage documentation of the commissioning process, including commissioning data and as built documentation, input to O&Ms and feedback to the design disciplines
  • Responsible for the overall safety of the commissioning team

Experience & Skills:

  • Ability to read P&IDs, schematics, project specifications and specification drawings
  • Proven ability with large capital projects, multi-discipline leadership in CSU of facilities
  • Must be a motivated self-starter with complex problem-solving ability
  • Excellent communication skills and team-oriented personality required to interface with Construction and Operations Teams
  • Detailed working knowledge of Power and LNG production facilities and processes pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up
  • Be familiar with construction and commissioning safety processes including management of change, incident investigation processes, Permit to Work, Lock-Out/ Tag-Out, SIMOPS, Company Safety Program and safety audit

Additional Qualifications:

  • In lieu of formal education 18 + years of commissioning, start-up, and operations experience, particularly commissioning and start-up of combined cycle power plants
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and 10 + years of commissioning, start-up, and operations experience, particularly commissioning and start-up of combined cycle power plants
  • In depth procedural knowledge and proven ability in start-up and plant operations activities
  • Ability to manage, support, and coordinate plant operations
  • Must have experience within the PLNG, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy, or related industry
