EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
High School or Vocational School and
Completion of a commercial/laboratory refrigeration training program
- Experience
1 year of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience and
Previous experience with medical freezers, refrigerators, or ultra-low temperature units and
Familiarity with repair of specialized mechanical equipment (such as hospital beds)
- Licenses and Certifications
Relevant certifications (e.g. EPA Refrigerant Recovery)
JOB DUTIES
- Specialized Maintenance & Repair: Install, maintain, and repair critical medical refrigeration systems, including medical refrigerators, ultra-low temperature freezers, and cold storage units.
- Mechanical Equipment Repair: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair various mechanical-type medical equipment such as hospital beds, stretchers, and other clinical support machinery.
- Environmental Systems: Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain and service refrigeration monitoring sensors and systems related to temperature and humidity control in critical areas.
- Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Perform complex diagnostics to determine the root cause of problems and/or failures in mechanical, medical, and refrigeration systems, identifying equipment or component repair/replacement needs.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine and scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) on assigned equipment to ensure maximum reliability and efficiency.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations during or after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns or equipment failures.
- Vendor and Project Coordination: Work with vendors and contractors to obtain quotes for specialized equipment repairs and assist in coordinating their work to ensure proper repairs are made.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate service records and comply with all safety codes, facility policies, and environmental regulations (e.g., EPA refrigerant handling rules).
