Sr. Production Planner

The Opportunity:
Avantor is looking for a Senior Planner to join our Planning Team to translate midterm to long-term plans into a weekly schedule aligning near-term requirements with capacity availability and addressing imbalances. Production planning must keep constant contact with supply network and inventory planning, operations, material planning and finished goods planning teams to understand any potential issues that appear (such as labor shortages, supply shortages and nonroutine asset maintenance) which may impact capacity schedules.
This role will be a full-time position based out of our Phillipsburg, New Jersey, facility. This position is tasked to continually balance and rebalance resources (such as equipment, materials, and staffing) in collaboration with other team and effectively deploying a schedule that allows the operation to run as efficiently as possible while meeting customer expectations.
What we’re looking for
- Education: Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics Management, Business Management or related field is required
- Experience: Minimum 5 – 7 years in production planning experience is required
- Problem solving techniques training, i.e., Lean, Six Sigma
- SAP experience required
- Excel experience required
- PIVOT Table experience required
- Certification(s): APICS certification is preferred
- Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Office experience required; Word and PowerPoint proficiency highly preferred
- Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years SAP experience
- PowerBI experience
- ERP experience
- Hlookup, Vlookup, and or Xlookup experience
- PSI (Production-Sales-Inventory) experience
How you will thrive and create an impact
- Monitor demand and capacity for the purpose of generating a weekly schedule that meets customer requirements and addresses any imbalances
- Work closely with finished goods planning and material planning team to ensure proper coverage and accurate schedules
- Partner with Operations, Quality and Warehouse and Shipping teams to address constrains, or opportunities by collaboratively addressing and escalating as appropriate
- Adjust the production schedule to accommodate near-term customer orders that differ from the agreed sales and operations planning (S&OP)
- Identify Supply Response imbalances and address appropriate response
- Anticipate potential issues by comparing demand with supply in the short term and midterm
- Leverage new product introduction plans from research and development and/or new product innovation teams into production plans
- Use and maintain current capacity planning systems to create the best capacity schedules using established processes
- Familiarity with the standard demand planning system features like best-fit/what-if analysis, class/characteristic identification
- Performs other duties as assigned

A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
Minimal physical effort is required. Work requires walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
