Inpatient Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner

As our Inpatient Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner, you will help adult inpatient oncology and hematology patients receive comprehensive, specialized care from diagnosis through treatment and palliative support.
In this role, you will deliver direct patient care within the inpatient setting, specializing in oncology and hematology. You will perform comprehensive assessments, order and interpret diagnostic studies, formulate treatment plans in collaboration with oncologists, manage acute medical complications, provide compassionate palliative care, educate patients and families, and meticulously document all clinical findings and interventions.
To be successful in this role, you must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner (FNP and/or Adult/Geriatric NP) with a strong clinical background in hematology/oncology, exceptional skills in patient assessment and treatment management, and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary team care within a high-acuity environment.
Patient Care: Provide comprehensive assessments for adult inpatient oncology and hematology patients, including history and physical exams, diagnostic study orders and interpretation, and formulation of treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians
Treatment Management: Prescribe appropriate treatments, medications, and therapies in accordance with established protocols and in collaboration with the attending oncologist
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, specialists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare team members to ensure seamless, holistic care for patients
Acute Medical Management: Manage complications and acute medical issues related to cancer treatment, including toxicities, infections, and palliative care needs
Palliative and End-of-Life Care: Provide compassionate palliative care, including symptom management and end-of-life care coordination, as appropriate
Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about cancer treatments, side effects, self-management strategies, and advance care planning
Consultation and Communication: Consult with specialty physicians regarding changes in patient condition, diagnostic results, and treatment recommendations
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring comprehensive documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and follow-up care

Job Requirements
Required
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing, with a certification as a Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner)
- Active or eligible license in the state of Arizona
- Hematology/oncology experience required either as a NP or as a nurse
Preferred
OCN or AOCNP preferred, but not required
