The Assistant Director will provide administrative and operational support to the CDU Simulation Center Director. The assistant director is responsible for maximizing the Mervyn M. Dymally College of Nursing (MMDCON) simulation program performance by managing daily operations and implementing organizational strategies to improve efficiency, quality, and teamwork. In collaboration with course faculty and program directors from the school of nursing, the assistant director develops and ensures simulation quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership to faculty and program directors in MMDCON in the utilization of simulation to enhance and ensure the educational competence of learners across specialties and programs.
• Apply SSIH simulation standards and best simulation practices to support programs in expanding simulation activities.
• Assist in the acquisition of SSIH Provisional Accreditation for our current CDU Simulation Center and later Full Accreditation as CDU Simulation Center transitions into the new HPEB.
• Collaborate with faculty and program directors to develop scholarly activities (such as research, quality improvement activities, and standardization of simulation curriculums) to showcase and evaluate the impact and outcomes of simulation on nursing education.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the CDU Simulation Center Operating Policies, Procedures, and Practices to ensure a consistent and safe experience for all users; develop, update, and implement operational and quality assurance plans/procedures.
• Supports operations, financial management, and strategic planning under the direction of the Director of Simulation.
• Support student activities in the Pipeline programs.
• Participate in campus committees relevant to simulation, including simulation education and administrative committees.
• Oversee MMDCON simulation operations, including managing the simulation schedule on Astra, inventory assessments, and addressing simulation needs of faculty.
• Supervise and evaluate the quality of work completed by each simulation technician/staff and provide constructive feedback to improve quality and efficiency, as well as establish expectations and provide performance evaluation/metrics.
• Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of an inventory system and related policies and procedures to ensure that resources, including supplies, medical equipment, manikins, and other capital equipment, are maintained, stocked, and repaired as needed to ensure availability.
• Ensure all MMDCON simulation activities are prepared and executed on time and following INACSL best practice standards
• Guide simulation technician in organizing the storage rooms and ensure all simulation areas are cleaned, organized, and in a constant state of readiness.

• Supervises simulation technician staff.
• Conduct daily simulation staff huddles, weekly staff meetings, and monthly 1:1 staff performance meeting
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.
EDUCATION:
• MSN from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent experience in the related field.
• Regionally accredited doctoral degree or the equivalent of combined education and experience in the related field preferred.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS (IF APPLICABLE):
• National certification (i.e., Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator, Certified Healthcare Simulation Operational Specialist), is preferred.
• American Heart Association-Basic Life Support Provider, preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
• Five (5) or more years of experience in an education or university program, working in the field of simulation
• Experience teaching, advising, and mentoring students.
• Management experience in simulation settings.
• Experience working with national accreditation agencies.
• Familiar with developing, managing, and evaluating simulation activities, curriculum, and programs.
• Have solid knowledge in operating high-fidelity manikins, VR/AR platforms, and various simulation learning management systems.
SKILLS:
• Have a history of successful simulation leadership experience in academic settings.
• Ability and experience in developing a simulation-level strategic plan, developing a related budget, and achieving results against plan objectives and budget requirements.
