- The goal of the Central Finance Team (CFT) team is to provide key insights that help Microsoft make better financial and business decisions. Our team is at the hub of Microsoft's financial activities, being a key strategic partner to all sides of the business and serving a diverse set of stakeholders: Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), Leadership Teams, Engineering groups, and Sales and Marketing teams. It comprises of teams focused on Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) across all of the company’s financial activities, Investor Relations, Procurement & Finance Data.
We are looking for a Senior Finance Manager with analytical, cost management, collaboration and storytelling skills to lead our incentive compensation controllership & analytics function within the Commercial Revenue FP&A team. This team is responsible for Adjusted Gross Revenue forecasting/analytics, modern revenue frameworks for our commercial business, external metrics & Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), incentive compensation controllership & analytics, and supporting new go-to-market models like Modern Commerce. This person will have curiosity and a passion for understanding the drivers of business performance, particularly how revenue performance translates into attainment of sales plan incentives, collaborating across finance orgs to ensure that these drivers are well-understood and delivered effectively.
Responsibilities
For this role, key responsibilities include:
Planning
- Lead annual budgeting process for incentive compensation, partnering with Worldwide Incentive Compensation, Field Finance, and Corporate Teams to build bottom-up financial models to match proposed compensation plans
- Analyze financial impacts of proposed updates to compensation plans and provide insights and recommendations as needed
Forecasting
- Develop and design driver-based models to understand the impact of changes in revenue on incentive compensation obligations
Analysis
- Perform ad hoc analysis as needed by business to evaluate new Sales Contests and On-Top Bonus programs
- Monitor, analyze and deliver performance of incentive compensation programs in market and highlight financial risks and opportunities
- Calculate accurate accrual obligations for incentive compensation for financial reporting
Partnership
- Partner across a matrix organization to implement and enhance financial processes and financial systems
- Establish and own “single source of truth” reporting to track budgeted cost and forecasted spend of all approved sales contests and sales programs
