What You’ll Do:
The Electrical Engineering Manager will design SOC and MCU based products that include but are not limited to: high-speed digital interfaces (LCD, digital Camera, etc), Bluetooth, WiFi, system level integration, analog power systems, illumination, user interface, sensors (gyroscope, accelerometer, proximity, hall effect, magnetometer), sensors and motors. The EE Manager will work with the engineering team and product managers to drive the electrical engineering projects within existing and upcoming connected pet care products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Designs electrical circuits and systems from concept to product:
- ideation
- project timing
- schematic design & Layout
- prototype build
- test fixturing
- production oversight
- Responsible for conducting design reviews
- Development of design verification specifications
- Performs digital and analog hardware verification in the lab and writing test reports
- Collaborates with firmware engineers
- designs validation
- provides breadboards for early software functionality confirmation
- Responsible for all aspects of ensuring a quality design
- Ensure design is optimized for performance and cost
- Mentoring and supportive role to Jr. engineers
- Will perform additional responsibilities when required
Leadership Responsibilities:
Directly supervises department Teams. Carries out supervisory responsibilities following Whisker policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, and hiring, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing team issues, and upholding safety and quality guidelines.
Requirements
What You’ll Bring:
- BS in Electrical / Electronic Engineering
- 8+ Years Embedded Experience
- Understanding of Embedded Systems at a very low-level
- Understanding of Low-Level Hardware (discreet inexpensive sensors)
- Understanding of Low-Level Software (bare metal on MCU, CPU registers)
- Understanding of digital and analog components and circuits
- Understanding of networks (UART, I2C, SPI, BLE, WIFI)
- Experience with PCB CAD (Schematic, PCB Layout, and Trace Routing)
- Experience with Power Supplies, Meters, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, etc.
- Experience with soldering and basic electronic hand tools
- Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information
- Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere in a fast-paced environment with numerous interactions and interruptions
- A high degree of initiative, self-motivation, and ability to motivate others
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Team Members and colleagues
- Comfortable with office pets (cats, dogs)
Not Required but Nice to Have!
- Experience with IOT Consumer Product Design
- Experience in high volume product design and development
- Understanding of EMC/EMI design
- Understanding of Code of Federal Regulations (47 CFR Part 15)
- Experience with PIC development systems, or similar systems for R&D of sensors, motors and basic I/O
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems
