The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience.  New hires are typically brought into the organization at $32.44--$50.28/hourly based upon experience and education. The City and County of Denver has announced furlough days, or unpaid days off, for most employees to meet a budget shortfall in 2025. There are two fixed furlough days for all limited (temporary positions with an end date) and unlimited (permanent) employees on August 29th, the Friday before Labor Day, and November 28th, the day after Thanksgiving. If you receive an offer for this position, your annual pay will determine whether you are required to take additional furlough days. Details will be discussed during the offer process for selected candidate(s). 

Location & Schedule

In this position you can expect to work on site at Denver International Airport (parking is provided)

  • Shifts consist of four (4) 10-hour days (Sunday—Wednesday OR Wednesday—Saturday)

  • The primary shift will be discussed in interview and can be any of the shifts listed below.

  • Shifts are yearlong commitments and are subject to change based on operational need.

    • Day Shift:  0600--1630 (6:00 AM--4:30 PM)

    • Swing Shift: 1430--0100 (2:30 PM--1:00 AM)

    • Graveyard Shift: 2030--0700 (8:30 PM--6:00 AM

  • Shifts are not guaranteed and are subject to change

  • Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If staffing challenges occur, weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees will be required to work extended hours and/or alternative shifts (includes nights, weekends, and holidays)

  • Participates in mandatory Snow/Emergency Duties at Denver International Airport

In this position, you can expect to:

  • Repair and maintain electronic systems and equipment such as electronic access control,  digital and analog CCTV security camera systems, mass notification and overhead paging systems, fire alarm systems, Smart City devices, cable TV, security, computers and other related electronic, control and signalizing systems

  • Troubleshoot, test, diagnose, calibrate, and perform bench and field repairs to the component level

  • Design and fabricate circuits and related equipment as needed to utilize existing equipment, modify applications, or resolve unusual problems

  • Install and maintain power supplies, closed circuit TV camera systems, videos, alarm and signaling equipment, encoders and decoders, computer data systems, and other related communication systems

  • Perform preventative maintenance for electronic control and signalizing equipment to minimize repair problems and to meet manufacturers’ specifications

  • Review service contracts, evaluates, and recommends equipment purchasing as assigned

  • Operate a variety of computer systems designed to monitor and/or operate specific electronic and electrical systems

  • Research and prepare technical reports and manuals containing detailed processes and procedures

  • Maintain detailed documentation of data collection on required and completed repair work and write computer programs compatible with operating systems to expand functions

  • May be required to be on-call to address emergent needs, participate in snow removal duties, and respond to afterhours calls or emergency calls outside of normal scheduled or business hours.
