What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Design and release responsibility for all cockpit and seats including instrument panel, console, hard trim, soft trim, air bags, restraints, seats. for all new products. You will cover from clean sheet of paper through virtual development, testing/sign-off and manufacturing launch for Scout all-electric pick-up and rugged SUVs.
- Be the vision of engineering excellence & source of knowledge for interior and seating areas of expertise.
- A critical focus will be on design and engineering products that are innovative and optimized. Bring your creativity and passion to make exciting products. Invent and protect our intellectual property.
- Build and coach a team of diverse experiences, cultures, skills, backgrounds, gender, ethnicity, etc. Create a working environment that is fertile for innovation, efficient in operation and fun.
- Design & create with collaboration, a simulation environment that allows the new body systems concepts & ideas to be put to test for vehicle handling, safety features & overall drive experience.
- Create prototypes for virtual and physical verification testing, including field testing.
- Deliver designs to conform to safety standards & US government regulations.
- Proactively keep close to “pulse” of the consumer experience and propose system improvements.
- Input into the design of production facilities for body systems of the Scout trucks & SUVs.
- Manage resources efficiently including infrastructure, financial, supplier partners and people.
- Be a key member and decision maker within the technical leadership team and liaison will all Scout functions.
Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Interior and seating technical skills/expertise with a 1st principles approach to problem solving.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or relevant engineering field.
- Master’s degree in engineering, systems engineering, engineering management or MBA a plus.
- 15+ years of experience in body structures and relevant automotive assignments. Including all three phases of product development (design, test and launch)
- Computer aided engineering (CAE) awareness and/or direct experience.
- An ability to build strong working relationships with people across all organizational levels.
