Senior Commercial Data Analyst

As part of the Global Commercial Excellence team, the Senior Commercial Data Analyst serves as a trusted analytics advisor to the Commercial and Sales teams. This role is critical in enabling data-driven decision-making by delivering reliable and actionable insights that support commercial strategy. The analyst will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to understand their goals, uncover business logic, and provide analytical solutions that drive performance and efficiency. Success in this role requires strong business acumen, curiosity, and the ability to work with complex and unstructured data.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Commercial Data Analyst with 3+ years of experience in data analytics, reporting, and visualization to join the Fertility Services BI team on a 6-10 month contract, with the potential to transition to a permanent role based on performance and business need. The ideal candidate will be skilled in building scalable data models, wrangling messy or incomplete datasets, and developing insightful Power BI reports. Success in this role requires a proactive mindset, critical thinking, and excellent communication skills to partner with cross-functional teams and investigating underlying business logic.

• Reporting & Visualization: Design, develop, and maintain interactive, scalable Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Data Modeling: Build efficient and well-structured data models using best practices in Power BI and SQL to support reporting needs and future scalability.
• Data Transformation & Wrangling: Clean, transform, and integrate large, messy, or incomplete datasets from multiple sources; ensure data consistency and reliability.
• Documentation Management: Own the end-to-end documentation for the reporting process, capturing data flow, business requirements, and logic. Work closely with IT and business stakeholders to ensure all elements are clearly defined, traceable, and aligned, enabling transparency, consistency, and knowledge sharing across teams.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with cross-functional teams (sales, finance, marketing, operations) to gather requirements, clarify business logic, and ensure analytical solutions meet evolving business needs.
• Insight Generation: Analyze commercial data to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities, and translate findings into actionable insights and recommendations.
• Business Logic Definition: Proactively identify and validate the business rules behind KPIs and metrics, especially when not clearly defined, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
• Ad Hoc & Strategic Analysis: Support short-term and strategic decision-making by conducting ad hoc analyses and providing data-driven input on commercial initiatives and process improvements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Intelligence, Business Administration, Data Science, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in a commercial, sales, finance, or business analytics role
• Proven expertise in Power BI development, including DAX and data visualization best practices 
• Strong SQL skills for querying and transforming large datasets from multiple sources
• Experience with data modeling and designing efficient data structures
• Demonstrated ability to work with messy, incomplete, or unstructured data
• Strong business acumen with a track record of translating data into impactful insights
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across business functions
• Proactive and self-driven, with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Curiosity and learning agility to drive exploration of new data, techniques, and understanding of diverse global contexts
• Adaptability and resilience, necessary for navigating an evolving data ecosystem

Preferred:

• Experience in commercial analytics, sales operations, or revenue management
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, Snowflake)
• Exposure to CRM or ERP systems (e.g., Salesforce, SAP)
