Job Summary

The Supervisor for the Invasive Procedures department is responsible for the coordination of patient care and the efficiency of unit operations. Collaborates with other professional disciplines and the physicians to deliver safe, efficient, quality care to patients and their families. Facilitates patient’s movement through the department in a timely manner. Directly supervises unit staff. Supports and assists the unit manager with staff development, annual staff evaluations, staff schedules and discipline, time and attendance, as well as assisting in other various projects. This position will care for patients in the adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Employee performs clinical duties in accordance with population specific guidelines and adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined in policy and procedures. Serves as a positive, progressive role model for the unit’s staff by demonstration of clinical/professional expertise. 

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications: Current Ga RN, RTR, Paramedic, RCIS, RCES, RRT, or ARRT; current BLS and ACLS.

  • Educational Requirements: Associates Degree.

  • Minimum Experience: Associates Degree in Science with Certification/Registry and three (3) years of experience; or a Certificate/Registry/License in Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Paramedic, or other Diagnostic Program with four (4) years of clinical experience

  • Preferred Educational Requirements: Associates Degree in Allied Health field.

  • Preferred Experience: Two (2) years progressive leadership. Vascular Interventional Radiology Certification.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the supervision and clinical direction of Invasive Lab personnel. Monitors personnel for compliance with established departmental routines, nursing, and patient care standards. Coordinates the delivery of patient care and flow in the unit to ensure completion of procedure in a safe, efficient manner. Assists with, and oversees when asked, various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations and other related activities. Implements appropriate disciplinary actions on a consistent and timely basis with documentation when necessary. Ensure protocols, order sets, and clinical practice complies with evidence-based best practice. Works with program medical director(s), establishing protocols for tracking patients to ensure appropriate follow-up and intervention. Monitors employee training and continuing education. May provide direct patient care. Able to perform various role modality in the procedure room. Remains current on new technology trends, treatment modalities and research findings relative to this patient population. In collaboration with medical leadership, incorporate new technologies, treatments, and research into clinical practice. Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with all staff to review, plan and coordinate activities of the specific areas/programs and assures documentation of all meetings in defined NGHS format. Oversees the patient scheduling process to assure scheduling efficiency. Addresses problems/concerns (e.g. patient, family, or physician complaints, scheduled procedures, unusual circumstances, disciplinary problems of staff, etc.)  and reports, interventions to Unit Manager within 24 hours.
