Family Description

Applied R&D (AR) consists of target-oriented research either with the goal of solving a particular problem / answering a specific question or for multi-discipline design, development, and implementation of hardware, software, and systems including maintenance support. Supplies techno-economic consulting to clients. AR work is characterised by its detailed and complex nature in order to systematically combine existing knowledge and practices to further developing and incrementally improving products, operational processes, and customer-specific feature development.

Subfamily Description

Integration, Verification & Testing (IVT) comprises the integration of SW and / or HW or system components into system, platform, product releases, or networks and verifies the integrated entity or network against particular requirements and specifications. Covers setup and maintenance of laboratory and associated equipment, tools, and devices.

 

Analyze requirements to perform test planning, development and test execution on the project

• Create and maintain automated test (Python)
• Analyze test results to open issues and follow the full issue lifecycle including collaborating with developers to create reproducible scenarios, testing and creating automated regressions.
• Work on the test infrastructure to resolve issues, to extend its capabilities and to make testing easier for the whole team
• Report frequently and concisely (daily stand-up meetings) about the status of the assigned tasks.
• Interact daily with a development team spread across three time-zones (Italy / US / India) to gather the necessary information to solve issues and move the assigned tasks forward.

• A M.S. in optics, physics, telecommunication or electrical engineering.
• Proficiency with Python (A personal project to look at or contribution to any open source one would be ideal)
• Exposure to optical technologies / protocols: DWDM, CWDM, SONET, OTN, Ethernet, IP, GMPLS is highly required
• Good understanding of basic concepts underlying a client/server application (UI/REST API) is highly required
• Passion for optics, networking, testing and quality in general, including a high attention to details.
• Fluent in English with good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and proactively within a team meeting the project deadlines
• Exposure to testing frameworks such as Pytest 
• Exposure to any Continuous Integration system such as Jenkins is a plus
• Experience with bug reporting tool as Atlassian JIRA is a plus
