Every day, we enable our customers to solve the most complex and dynamic challenges to help achieve a safe and sustainable world.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Role Purpose</strong>The Senior Energy Modeller and Software Engineer will contribute to the development and application of global energy system and integrated assessment models, supporting research and analysis on the energy transition and decarbonisation. The role involves quantitative research, data analysis, model development, and policy assessment to inform national and international climate strategies.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Example Projects</strong>• Further development and maintenance of a large R and Bash codebase.• Assessment of national and international climate policies.• Model-based analysis of low-carbon transition strategies and pathways.• Evaluating the impacts and feasibility of deep decarbonisation across major sectors.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong>• Collect, structure, and maintain large datasets relevant to energy, economy, industry, and transport.• Review and summarise scientific, technical, and market reports to inform quantitative assessments.• Develop and apply energy system modelling tools using GAMS, R, and/or Python.• Enhance and maintain a large codebase in R and Bash.• Contribute to EU-funded research projects, supporting national and international climate policy discussions, including IPCC processes.• Collaborate with senior researchers and consultants to deliver high-quality scientific projects.• Manage time effectively across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with research objectives.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Key Competencies and Experience</strong>• MSc or higher in Engineering, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.• Experience in data science using R or Python, including library development.• Proven programming skills in Bash and/or Python/R.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive and collaborative approach.• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Working here</strong></p> <p>You will be warmly welcomed into our workplace where every voice matters.
