Business Systems Analyst Intern

Job Summary:

Horizon BCBSNJ seeks a self-directed Information Technology (IT) intern with a passion for technology, collaboration, and creative problem-solving. The intern will actively contribute to meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior leadership. This position is responsible for documenting business and technical requirements and coordinating project activities with a team of Application Developers.

Responsibilities:

• Work alongside a team of Application Developers with a focus on understanding requirements, identifying solutions, creating documentation, and managing project activities
• Collaborate with Solution Architects to define solutions for business problems
• Follows the Horizon's user story or business requirements documentation process utilizing the appropriate tools
• Coordinate the tasks of fellow teammates within an intern cohort to keep project activities on track, and report on the status of these tasks
• Provide systems support during testing and after go live
• Create training and support documentation as part of operational support

Knowledge / Skills & Abilities:

• High School Diploma Required
• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Business Administration/Management, Business & Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information System, Project Management, or related field
• Familiarity with system development life cycle and implementation methodologies
• Requires interpersonal skills including active listening in order to capture and document feedback and requirements
• Requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail in support of project execution
• Requires fundamental critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Requires ability to quickly adapt and work in a fast paced environment

Location: 3 Penn Plaza Newark NJ – Hybrid Work Schedule

Schedule: 8am-5pm (9 hour work day with lunch)

Duration: 11 week Summer Internship Program (June 2, 2025 – August 15, 2025)
