Position Summary:

Under the supervision of Medical Clinic Director, effectively and efficiently communicate between the Nimkee Clinic staff, patients and outside health care organizations to support compliance with provider referrals, orders, tracking, and follow-up.  All Nimkee staff must adhere to mandated reporting laws.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute as a member of Nimkee Clinic’s patient care team with a focused effort on facilitating patient referrals from a provider.
  • Assemble information concerning patient’s clinical background and order needs.
  • Per guidelines, provide appropriate clinical information to outside agencies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, family, and the entire patient care team.
  • Schedule patient appointments for referrals; notify patient.
  • Maintain tracking system for referrals to ensure patient follow-through.
  • Document all orders and retrieve test results for the provider related to patient labs, diagnostic testing, etc.
  • Attend various meetings as assigned.
  • Adhere to patient confidentiality and complies with clinic policies and federal regulations under the Privacy rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

  • Contact with patients, patient families, outside health care organizations, providers, and Nimkee Clinic staff.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year experience working in a medical office, outpatient, or clinic setting with medical terminology background.
  • Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant.
  • Basic knowledge of the insurance billing rules and concepts.

 

License, Certification, or Special Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain HIPAA Certification
