Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Texas Transportation Planning Department Manager to be based in Dallas, TX.

Job Description:

As the Texas Transportation Planning Department Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of transportation in our state. You will lead a team of dedicated professionals, manage complex projects, and collaborate with stakeholders to develop innovative transportation solutions that address current and future needs. This position reports directly to the Vice President of the Highway Planning Division for AECOM’s US West Region.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of transportation planners, engineers, and analysts.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
• Oversee professional development and training initiatives for department staff.

Project Management:

• Manage transportation planning projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, environmental specialists, and urban planners, to deliver integrated solutions.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, government agencies, and community stakeholders.
• Represent AECOM at public meetings, workshops, and conferences.

Strategic Planning:

• Develop and execute departmental strategic plans that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.
• Identify growth opportunities and expand the department's client base.

Technical Expertise:

• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in transportation planning.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team.

Financial Management:

• Prepare and manage department budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
• Monitor project financials and profitability.

Quality Assurance:

• Implement quality control and quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality planning services.
• Review and approve project deliverables.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional licensure or certification (e.g., AICP, PE). Texas PE preferred.
• Minimum of 15+ years of experience in transportation planning and design, with at least 8+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Proven track record of successfully managing transportation planning and design projects.
• Strong knowledge of Texas transportation policies, regulations, and funding mechanisms.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Understanding of TxDOT TPP Division processes and procedures
