Job Summary:
The Chief Clinical Officer is responsible for the overall direction and oversight of clinical services in hospice services, Avow Care Services, and any additional business lines assigned.
Acts as Administrator Designee for Avow Care Services and assumes responsibilities and obligations as the Avow Care Services Administrator when the Administrator is not available.
This position reports directly to and works with the President & CEO.
Responsible for providing vision and leadership in creating a best-practice environment, a superior, compliant patient care delivery system through quality management. Manages multiple projects and demands with shifting priorities, initiative, decision making skills, independent judgments and critical thinking skills, group facilitation skills to promote multidisciplinary collaboration and lead groups, resolve conflict, remain flexible and facilitate teamwork.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the operations of the clinical services departments to include: Inpatient Services, Care24, Continuous Care, Clinical Homecare and Facility Teams, Social Services, Chaplaincy, Bereavement, AvowKids, Complementary Services, volunteers, and Avow Care Services/Palliative Care.
- Responsible for the results of the Hospice Quality Reporting Program (HQRP) as reported through the CAHPS and HIS.
- Reports trends and high risk areas in customer service and feedback to Quality and Compliance related committees, Executive Team, and Board on a regular basis. Elevates all high risk customer feedback to notify CEO and Compliance when appropriate.
- Instruct staff on their responsibility in following the Compliance and Ethics Program.
- Detect noncompliance and follow up as appropriate.
- Develops budgets and plans for areas of responsibility and monitors and reports on achievement of departmental goals on a regular basis to CEO and Executive Leadership as appropriate.
- As a leader on the Executive Leadership Team, provides guidance to the team and the Board on policy and practice that continuously improves the quality of service and support provided to our patients, family and community.
- Collaborates with operational and financial leaders to ensure full integration of quality and compliance processes within the organization and that those processes are improving efficiencies and quality of care and service.
- Stays abreast of upcoming payment models and innovation projects from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Innovations.
- Maintains current knowledge and expertise in areas of responsibility through educational and networking. Serves as a lead Clinical, Operations and Customer Service expert on the Executive Leadership Team.
- Assists the Executive Leadership Team to develop organizational operational plans, strategic plans and financial plans and guides the team to determine the areas needing improvement or changes to become more compliant, productive or to improve overall quality of care and services.

Qualifications
Education/Experience: Masters Prepared Registered Nurse, 5 years’ experience in executive level health care management, hospice experience and working knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) guidelines and/or Community Healthcare Assessment Partner (CHAP), survey readiness and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems is preferred. Public speaking and/or training experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Registered Nurse with ability to be licensed in the state of Florida.
