Job Description

AECOM is seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Associate, Project Designer with extensive aviation experience to join our practice and help grow our Aviation market sector.  We’re looking for a team leader who is client-facing and is experienced in project management with design & technical excellence. The successful candidate is driven by a passion for identifying project opportunities and delivering quality work.  This role is focused on growing our successful aviation architecture practice.

As a Senior Associate, Project Designer with recognized technical expertise and experience in demanding, design driven projects, you will lead interdisciplinary teams. Leveraging your industry experience and technical acumen, you will drive a wide range of aviation projects including terminal renovations, hold room design, security checkpoint improvements, and airside facilities, through all phases of design, documentation, and construction.

The successful candidate will be a designer who approaches aviation architecture with a passion, who works well with clients and stakeholders, and who understands the requirements of CBP, TSA, airlines and Terminal Managers.

What you will do:

• In partnership with the Project Director and Project Manager, you will lead a team, or multiple teams, in the design and technical documentation and delivery of a wide range of projects.
• Support the pursuit of excellence in new aviation projects.
• Develop solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems.
• Oversee and mentor the development of more junior designers and architects.
• Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• BA/BS plus ten years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Licensed Architect and NCARB Certified.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (BArch) or Bachelor of Science in Architecture + Master’s degree in Architecture with 10+ years of relevant experience in design, resolving technical issues, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Revit and BIM as well as experience in Photoshop, Microsoft Office, InDesign, and software such as Rhino, SketchUp, or other visualization tools.
• Experience with principles of Lean Design and Construction a plus.
• Solid knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures pertinent to aviation projects.
• Affinity with developing details and experience in construction documents.
• Ability to lead integrated design teams of varying sizes to accomplish project delivery from concept through construction document completion and may perform construction administration.
• Ability to be client facing and lead client discussions, presentations, and charrettes.
