Job Profile SummaryResponsible for assisting the nurse practitioner in completion of patient care activities, taking into consideration the patient’s developmental levels. Demonstrates strong communication skills, accepts delegated tasks and has the knowledge and understanding to ask questions and report patient information as indicated. Appropriately handles patient information understanding confidentiality and privacy. Complies with the safety management program designed to provide a physical environment free of hazards and to reduce the risk of injury. Is knowledgeable about and responsive to the mission of the hospital. The KE Tech promotes a patient and family experience oriented environment and acts as a change agent to meet the rapidly changing census and needs of all customers-both internal and external.
CPR - BLS certificate is required within 2 weeks of hire.
Department Specific Job Details:
Responsible for assisting the nurse practitioner in completion of patient care activities, taking into account patient’s developmental levels. Demonstrates strong communication skills, accepts delegated tasks and has the knowledge and understanding to ask questions and report patient information as needed. Coordinates with other staff within the organization to meet the medical supply and equipment needs for Kids Express. Appropriately handles patient information understanding confidentiality and privacy. Follows all policies and procedures related to point of care lab testing. Complies with the safety management program designed to provide a physical environment free of hazards and to reduce the risk of injury. Is knowledgeable about and responsive to the mission of the hospital. Register patients in the Emergency Department in a professional and efficient manner. Project a positive first impression of Dayton Children’s Hospital and provide excellent customer service during the entire registration process. Accurately enter patient information into each patient data record (Epic EMR) by skillfully interviewing patients, parents, or legal guardians. Verify all 3rd party insurance or Medicare/Medicaid coverage for payment and assist in arranging meeting with Financial Counselors for any patients or families needing financial assistance. Ensure all legal consents, HIPAA notifications, and other documentation (photo ID and insurance cards) are properly signed, verified, and scanned. Collect patient co-pays for services. REQUIRED: HS Diploma / GED. PCA training or activiely enrolled ina a healthcare related education (to include nursing, pre-med, radiology, respiratory, vet tech). Communication Skills, Customer Service Skills, Computer Skills. PREFERRED: 1-2 years experience. Medical Terminology.
